A fire broke out at a pharmaceutical company in Maharashtra‘s Raigad district, resulting in seven deaths and seven injuries. Officials are currently conducting a search operation to locate seven missing individuals following the incident.
The NDRF recovered three more bodies earlier this morning taking the death toll from four to seven.
“Our search operation is still underway to trace the seven persons who are missing,” he said.
Preliminary investigation has revealed the explosion was caused by gas leakage, leading to a series of blasts due to chemicals stored on the site.
The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be determined and the company has not released any official statement regarding the mishap.
Meanwhile, officials on Friday said that the blaze erupted following a blast at the factory. The fire then led the barrels containing chemicals to explode. Upon receiving the news of the incident, local police and the fire brigade promptly responded to the emergency. They dispatched fire trucks to combat the fire, which was successfully extinguished.
Police, fire brigade teams, and the NDRF are collaborating to locate the missing workers and assess the extent of the damage.
