The controversy created over remarks on the Prophet figured in the India-Asean foreign ministers’ meeting, with Singapore‘s FM Vivian Balakrishnan describing it as “a delicate subject” and stating that the issue was discussed informally.

“Let me just reflect views from a Singapore perspective. This is a stark reminder why we need to be careful and strongly reject hate speech, incendiary speech, speech which incites or aggravates, or causes insult or division,” said Balakrishnan.

Indonesian FM Retno Marsudi underlined the importance of tolerance.
