Man, who sent death threat to Vicky-Katrina, arrested

A day after Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal filed an official complaint at the Santacruz police station in Mumbai, the man – who sent death threats to him and his actress-wife Katrina Kaif on Instagram – was arrested.

Identified as Manvinder Singh, the man in question is a struggling actor, who is Kaif’s fan. He wanted to reportedly marry the ‘Bang Bang’ star and often posted super-imposed videos and morphed pictures of the actress with him on the photo-sharing platform.

Things took a wild turn when Singh started allegedly stalking and harassing Kaif for the past few months on social media. His lawyer Sandeep Sherkhane has denied all allegations and called them ‘baseless’.

“My client is a struggling actor. He is falsely implicated and made a scapegoat. The messages sent by actor Katrina and her sister are deleted from Instagram. A one-sided story is being portrayed. They are from the same industry and acquainted since 2019. Now suddenly these allegations are surfacing,” Singh’s lawyer was quoted as saying to news agency

On Tuesday, Singh was produced at a Bandra court and was sent to police custody till Thursday (July 28).

Kaif and Kaushal, fondly called VicKat by fans, have not yet commented anything about these reports in the public domain. They tied the knot in Rajasthan on December 9.

Before Katrina-Vicky, many B-town celebrities have received death threats. In June, actress Swara Bhasker received a death threat letter which was sent to her Versova residence. She lodged an official complaint against unidentified persons.

About a month ago, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan also received a death threat. According to reports, a letter was left on a bench where Salim often takes a break after his morning walks. The letter, retrieved by the security staff and the police, said that the father-son duo would meet the same fate as the slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, who was shot dead on May 29.

Following security concerns, the ‘Wanted’ actor applied for a gun licence on Friday for his protection amid alleged death threats.
