In a significant move to enhance air connectivity to Ayodhya and accommodate the surge in visitors post the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is set to launch eight new SpiceJet flight routes on February 1, 2024. These routes will link Ayodhya with major cities including Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Patna, Darbhanga, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The inauguration ceremony will be led by Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Following the Pran Pratishtha ceremony held on January 22 in Ayodhya, the demand for air travel to the sacred city has witnessed a remarkable surge. The consecration ceremony, graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marked the unveiling of the Ram Lalla idol after an hour-long ritual. The increased footfall has prompted the launch of additional flight routes to Ayodhya, aiming to bolster air connectivity for pilgrims and tourists.
Details of New Flight Routes
The new SpiceJet flight routes are strategically designed to connect Ayodhya with key cities across the country. The announcement comes in the wake of the recent inauguration of the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya Dham earlier this month. The airport’s initial phase can accommodate 10 lakh passengers annually, with plans to increase this capacity to cater to 60 lakh commuters after the second phase.
PM’s Presence at Ayodhya
On January 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi actively participated in the auspicious Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya, leading the rituals and unveiling the Ram Lalla idol. The ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent figures such as Mukesh Ambani, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Kumar Mangalam Birla, and Bollywood celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, and Kangana Ranaut.
Rising Temple Visitors
Since the opening of the Ram temple on January 23, there has been a remarkable influx of visitors. Approximately five lakh people visited the temple on the first day, and the daily footfall has consistently remained high, reaching around two lakhs. This surge in visitors highlights the significance of the consecration ceremony and the growing appeal of Ayodhya as a religious and tourist destination.
Impact on Ayodhya’s Infrastructure
The newly inaugurated Maharishi Valmiki International Airport is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity, leading to increased tourism, business activities, and employment opportunities in the region. With the upcoming launch of eight new SpiceJet flight routes, the government aims to further support and facilitate the growing demand for travel to Ayodhya.
As Ayodhya continues to attract a significant number of visitors post the Ram Temple consecration, the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s initiative to introduce additional flight routes reflects a proactive approach in meeting the rising travel demands. The enhanced air connectivity is poised to contribute to the overall growth and development of Ayodhya as a key religious and tourist destination.
