Still got some money from Christmas burning a hole in your pocket? Want to lower your monthly bills while there are some great deals around? January has brought a slew of discounts and deals across broadband, gadgets, and more. Amazon alone has discounted thousands of items across every department in its online store, with Argos and John Lewis following close behind. Express.co.uk has been enjoying a new year shopping spree and rounded up some of the best deals available right now. It can be a little overwhelming, so we’ve narrowed it down to the 5 ultimate deals from the 2022 January Sales…

1/ Virgin Media’s Broadband Bonanza
Whether you’re looking to upgrade to faster full-fibre broadband speeds or want to cut the cost of your monthly bills, Virgin Media’s latest sale has got you covered. These prices aren’t going to be around for long – the sale wraps up on January 12, 2022 – so don’t hang around. We’d recommend Virgin Media’s M100 broadband plan, which offers average download speeds of 108Mbps and upload speeds of 10Mbps. For comparison, the average home broadband speed in the UK was measured at 70Mbps last year, so this is a substantial step-up. Netflix requires 5Mbps to stream in High Definition, so that should give you an idea about how easily this will handle streaming crisp 1080p in different rooms – while other household members take part in FaceTime calls, back up photos to the cloud, download video games and software updates, stream music and radio, and more.
Usually priced at £44 a month when you’re out of the minimum contract term, Virgin Media customers can sign-up for 18-months of M100 speeds for £26.99 a month. On top of that saving, you’ll also see the £35 upfront cost slashed too – something that Virgin Media didn’t even do for its Black Friday deal! So, while 18-months of the usual £44 a month price (coupled with the £30 one-off set-up fee) would typically total £822 over the course of the contract, you’ll pay just £485.82. That’s a saving of £336.18.

2/ Apple AirPods Plummet To Killer New Price
If you missed the bombastic AirPods deals during Black Friday last year, we’ve got some good news! Amazon has revived the deal as part of its January sales. That means you’ll be able to bag the ultimate pair of AirPods for a few quid more than Apple charges for the third-generation AirPods, which don’t offer active noise-cancellation or customisable rubber tips for a better fit. If you’ve been thinking about splashing out on a pair of wireless earbuds for your iPhone, the AirPods Pro – at this price – are an impossibly easy recommendation for anyone!
Apple’s AirPods Pro use a custom-designed chip to seamlessly connect to your devices – and intelligently switch if you move from watching a show on Netflix on your iPad to making a call on an iPhone. There’s no need to start digging into the Settings menu on your gadget. On top of that, AirPods Pro offer great sound, support for Apple’s clever Spatial Audio surround sound-like feature, solid battery life, plus they block out almost all background noise for an uninterrupted music experience.
When Apple first launched the AirPods Pro back in 2019 they would have set you back over £240 but that’s all changed with retailers including Amazon slashing the cost of these premium earbuds. This makes it a great time to invest with prices now starting from just £184 – that’s a whipping £60 saving!

3/ New Year, New You …New Fitbit?
If you’re looking to start a new fitness regime in 2022, you might want a shiny new gadget on your wrist to keep tabs on the amount of exercise you’re doing, your heart health, sleep quality, and other important metrics when tracking your overall wellness. These gadgets can help to motivate you by pitting you against friends and family in competitions to reach the most steps – challenging you to turn your back on the lift and take the stairs instead. They also come preloaded with guided workouts. If you’re ready to take the plunge, you’ll be pleased to know that Fitbit Luxe has dropped to its lowest ever price on Amazon UK right now, down from £129.95 to £104. Not only do you get the tracker, which can monitor heart-rate, sleep, stress levels and swimming, but you’ll unlock 6-months of Fitbit Premium for free too.
Fitbit Premium usually costs £7.99 a month and offers in-depth insights into your historic health data, including sleep and stress metrics. It also creates a Daily Readiness score, which is based on your sleep, recovery and the amount of physical exercise you’ve been doing.

4/ Half Price iPhone 13
If Father Christmas didn’t drop off a brand-new iPhone 13 under the tree, there’s an incredible deal from Three that will let you kit yourself out with the latest Apple handset without spending a small fortune. Apple only unveiled its new iPhone 13 series on-stage back in September, so it’s incredible to see deals like this already available for the smartphone. iPhone 13 arrives with a completely re-engineered camera system with better results in gloomy, low-light situations and new Cinematic Mode – that blurs the background behind your subject in videos. Not only that, but Apple has added beefier Ceramic Shield protective glass to survive accidental drops, longer battery life, and a selection of new colours, as well as the usual fast charging, water-resistant case, and facial recognition.
And now, Three has slashed 50% off the price of the iPhone 13 for the first six months of your new contract. Three Mobile first debuted this deal during the Black Friday sales, which is known for its incredible one-off discounts. So, we were surprised to see this incredible half-price iPhone 13 deal make a return!
iPhone 13 will set you back £779 when bought from the Apple Store (or £769 on Amazon UK), is available on all of the UK’s biggest mobile networks. There is a wide range of deals available – but our favourite has to be this blockbuster discount from Three, which drops your monthly bills down to £31 a month for the first six months. After that, you’ll have to spend £62 a month for the latest handset from Apple with unlimited 5G data, unlimited calls and unlimited text messages. There’s an upfront fee of £49 too.
Over the 24-month contract, you’ll have spent a total of £1,351. Granted, that’s not cheap, but keep in mind that over the course of those two years, you’ll have the latest iPhone with completely unlimited 5G data – allowing you to stream boxsets from Netflix, listen to music, answer FaceTime calls on-the-move without ever worrying about running out of data.
With a choice of five colours – Midnight, Starlight, Pink, Blue, and Product (RED) – you’ll also benefit from three-months free access to Apple TV+, which is home to exclusive shows and movies like the award-winning Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, documentaries like Tiny World, Being James Bond, and Boys State, as well as blockbuster films, like Greyhound, Finch, CODA, Wolfwalkers, and On The Rocks.
5/ Forget Spotify, Get Unlimited Music Streaming For Free
It’s hard to find a better discount than free. And that’s where Amazon has all of the other January bargains in this list beat. The online retailer is giving away three months worth of access to its Music Unlimited streaming service. New customers can sign up right now to listen to Music Unlimited’s library of 75 million songs for the next three months without paying a single penny. And this incredible money-saving deal, which will run out in a matter of days time, is something that big rival Spotify simply can’t match.
The brilliant deal on Amazon’s Music Unlimited service expires on January 10 2022, so you’ll need to add it to your basket now. The deal gives customers a saving of almost £30, as an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription is priced at £9.99 per month. If you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber though this fee is reduced to £7.99 per month.
Amazon Music Unlimited – unlike Spotify – offers lossless (aka CD quality) audio across its entire library. Amazon dubs this HD audio quality, and it is available on Music Unlimited’s entire library of 75million songs. It has an app available on iOS, Android, Amazon’s Echo smart speakers, as well as tablets and other household gadgets – so you’ll be able to stream albums, tracks and hand-curated playlists across multiple devices.
