Warner Music, Tips extend strategic partnership

Mumbai-based Indian music label Tips Music has extended its strategic partnership with global record label Warner Music, granting access to their global catalogue, building on their three-year partnership.

The expanded partnership will see Warner Music handle commercials and distribution for Tips Music’s music across 23 Indian languages and 30,000+ songs on audio streaming apps.

The company will use its global network to promote artists and songs globally.

The music label has been exclusively distributing Tips Music’s 13,000+ Hindi catalogue since 2020, significantly contributing to the growth of the company’s Bollywood soundtracks internationally.

Warner Music provides specialised commercial support to various digital service providers, pitching and landing key playlist spots for frontline and catalogue releases.

TIPS Industries MD Kumar Taurani said, “Warner Music has been our trusted partner for the last few years, and it has worked very well for both of us. It is with great pleasure that we announce an extension of the existing partnership into a much wider global distribution deal. It is the beginning of a larger partnership between both companies.”

Warner Music President, Emerging Markets Alfonso Perez-Soto added, “Over the last few years, Warner Music has enjoyed access to Tips Music’s amazing Hindi catalogue and been able to offer unique sales support, which has seen us successfully promote its Bollywood soundtracks to a global audience. We’re now able to tap into even more incredible music, and our teams around the world will be looking to connect Tips Music’s artists and songs with more international fans.”

Warner Music India MD Jay Mehta stated that the two companies aim to make Indian music mainstream globally in their next partnership phase.

TIPS Industries CEO Hari Nair said the company is partnering with Warner Music to expand its distribution to international and Indian streaming services. He added that the deal will also enable music to be distributed to Meta, the world’s largest social media platform, enhancing revenue and content distribution.
